Place your face down pillow with the open end towards your chest and the ventilation arches at the base. This will then assist in providing a proper air flow and easy breathing while in use. Tension the adjustment cord to adjust the pillow shape for your personal comfort, ensuring it is always positioned at the base, next to your matress.
IMPORTANT: When positioning your head over the pillow, it is essential to ensure your forehead is resting on the foam buttress at the top of the pillow (opposite the open end). This will provide the correct support
for your head and ensure your eyes are positioned in the widest part of the void.
Your head is not positioned correctly on the pillow. Ensure your forehead is resting on the foam support area at the top, rather than the void in the center. This will allow the pillow to support the weight of your head and maintain airflow through the channels. If you don't rest your forehead on the top support area of the pillow, it can lead to the sides splaying out and your face sinking too far into the pillow.
As everyone's head is a slightly different shape and size, we have made the pillow adjustable, so that you can get it just right for your personal comfort. If you find the opening for your face too tight or you feel too 'perched on top' of the pillow then loosen off the toggle cord so that you can open out the 'arms' of the pillow a little more. Conversely, if your nose is touching the mattress below then the opening is too wide, in which case you can tighten the toggle cord to make the opening smaller. To adjust the cord simply squeeze the toggle on either side and slide it along the cord to loosen or tighten the aperture of the pillow as required.
If you find the pillow a little high or you are experiencing stress in the neck area, then simply put a normal pillow lengthwise from your stomach to shoulders which will gently elevate your torso, helping to keep your spine in line and ease neck tension when using the face down pillow whilst lying in a prone position.
